SAXON Drummer: 'All The Gigs So Far Have Been Amazing'
October 13, 2005Newly reappointed SAXON drummer Nigel Glockler has issued the following update from the band's current tour:
"Just got home last night (10th October),so I thought I'd do an update on the tour so far — FANTASTIC!!!!!!
"I had to fly out to Hamburg a couple of days before the other guys in order to sort out my kit and new rack system. We then had a few days rehearsal in Rendsburg before the first gig in Hamburg - that was a real baptism of fire!!! I hadn't played a full set for seven years and, what with the heat, I was worried!!! However, the audience were just incredible and carried me through!
"All the gigs so far have been amazing — thanks to all of you who have been to this first run of shows — and thanks for giving me such a great reception, and for the kind words after the concerts. I want to thank Django, my tech, for doing such a great job, and the whole crew in general. Special thanks must go to Nibbs, Biff, Doug and Paul for making me feel I've come home!! I honestly feel I'm playing better than ever and I shall strive to improve even more! So now's the time to chill-out before the next run of gigs starting in Antwerp on Saturday. We're still trying to sort out the U.S. visa situation, but, as Biff has said on the SAXON site, it's out of our hands."
As previously reported, SAXON were originally slated to embark on an American tour in May but ended up cancelling the dates as a result of the group's singer, Biff Byford, wanting to stay by his family's side after his house in the Normandie area of France burned down.
SAXON have been confirmed for the Sweden Rock kick-off concert on December 3 at Globen Annexet in Stockholm, Sweden. Also appearing on the bill are CLAWFINGER and KROKUS.
SAXON are continuing to tour in support of their latest CD, "Lionheart", available now on SPV Records. The follow-up to 2001's "Killing Ground" features artwork by Paul R. Gregory, who has previously worked with the group on the now classic "Crusader" album.
